GLIMPSE Spitzer Image Data
Two sets of image mosaics are created
using the same input data in all four
Spitzer IRAC
bands (3.6, 4.5, 5.8, 8.0 µm; just 3.6 and 4.5 µm for GLIMPSE 360 and Deep GLIMPSE). They are mosaicked at two
different pixel scales (0.6 arcsec aka "high resolution" and
1.2 arcsec pixels aka "native resolution") for science and visualization needs.
The FITS headers contain relevant information from both the SSC pipeline processing and the GLIMPSE processing,
such as IRAC frames included in the mosaicked image and coordinate information.
The GLIMPSE native resolution images (1.2" pixel) come in two versions: v2.0 and v3.5
(labeled "nobkm" and "corr" in GLIMPSE 360, Vela-Carina, Deep GLIMPSE, and SMOG).
The v3.5 mosaic images match instrumental background variations between
the IRAC frames. Instrument artifacts such as full array pull-up, first
frame effect and frame pull-down are mostly removed from these images.
Since this processing may be removing real sky variations the v2.0 (1.2" pixel)
mosaics are also provided since these do not have
the background matching.
