Program Interface: Downloading Spectra
IRSA has two program-friendly methods for retrieving spectra. A brief description of each is given below, along with links to detailed instructions and examples.
Simple Spectral Access (SSA)
SSA is a VO-compliant method of searching IRSA's holdings for spectra that satisfy a number of possible criteria, including position and wave band. The SSA service can also be accessed from Python using the astroquery function query_ssa.
Image and Spectrum Server (Atlas) API
This API allows users to search for spectra based on the dataset and spatial constraints. It does not comply with any protocols defined by the International Virtual Observatory Alliance.
